Trustee Christie Sacré

Trustee Christie Sacre

“Creating educated, responsible and creative adults out of our children should be a goal of all schools.  I think if our students can think for themselves, take ownership of their lives and give back to society, then we have done a good job.”

Christie Sacré grew up in North Vancouver and now has three children attending two North Vancouver public schools.  Christie wanted to serve on the School Board in order to advocate for students in the public school system, with integrity and without a personal agenda.  She sees her role as being a liaison between stakeholders, keeping lines of communication open, in an effort to ensure every student has a positive experience in the public school system.  Christie believes the work of the School Board includes: striving to ensure families and teachers have the tools they need to support learning; listening to students, teachers, and the community when making decisions; being transparent, accountable, and fiscally responsible; and working to keep students engaged and empowering them to be great.

Christie has an Arts Degree from Simon Fraser University.  She worked in the hospitality industry and in accounting before starting her own daycare so she could stay home with her children when they were young.  She now works part-time doing payroll and benefits for a local company.

Christie recognizes the integral role of community in raising children, and has been active in the Ridgeway community for the past 16 years.  She volunteers with North Shore Girls Soccer, Onedance Performing Arts Centre and in her children's classrooms.  She has been involved with the School Planning Council at Ridgeway Annex and has been part of the Ridgeway PAC for eight years, two years as Chair.
