Scientific Calculator Buying Tips

Students will need to have a scientific calculator this year.  We really only just start to use their functions in grade 7 but they are often useful.  However, you should not spend too much money, mostly because you will likely get lost in all the functions/options of an expensive one (probably during a test!).  The following are good choices:

Texas Instruments TI-30Xa Scientific Calculator

Sharp EL510RB Scientific Calculator

Casio FX260 Scientific Calculator

Geometry Sets

Student should have a geometry set in their desk at all times as they are used periodically throughout the year for math and also can be used when working on an assignment's presentation.  Please resist the temptation of buying a really cheap one (i.e. dollar store) - they are really frustrating to work with.  Pick up a decent set for around $10 and take care of it.
