Before School

This is a reminder that no formal supervision is provided in the morning before school begins. Our doors do not open until 8:35 am except for the Main Entrance door.   For the most part, we expect students to wait outside until the 8:40 am bell rings.   There are occasional exceptions to this rule, and at no time do we want students to feel they cannot come into the school in the event of an emergency.   However, because we cannot guarantee that students can be supervised by staff if they are dropped off early to school, we do not encourage students arriving to school early unless they are involved in extra-curricular sports, choir, band or tutorial sessions with their teacher.  Thank-you for your understanding and cooperation as we work together to ensure the safety of our students.

Recess and Lunch

Eastview has three supervision assistants on the playground during recess and lunch, as well as other staff that assist with the supervision of students.  Staff can be identified by brightly coloured vests. All students are expected to follow the school code of conduct in their daily interactions on the playground to ensure a safe place for everyone.  Students should come prepared for variable and seasonal weather conditions as every recess students will be outside.  We believe children need a break from their classroom, and both fresh air and physical activity contribute to their ability to focus on their studies.  There are areas around the school where children can stay dry, but coats, umbrellas, and boots make their outside experience more enjoyable. 

All adults who visit the playground at recess or lunch are asked to report to the Main office to check in.
