Trustee Mike McGraw

Trustee Mike McGraw

“Access to a strong and relevant public education system for all students is a fundamentally important right. It provides a crucial foundation for society by preparing our children for successful lives as adults. A truly successful public education system is one that prepares students to become life-long learners.”

Mike McGraw has a son in high school, a daughter in elementary school, and his oldest son graduated from Handsworth Secondary School in 2011.  Mike sees the role of the Board of Education as providing the leadership, stewardship and vision to govern the management of School District resources, and to ensure quality public education that responds to the needs of the community.  Mike’s priority as a trustee is to see that the District achieves the vision and goals outlined in the School District’s Ten-Year Strategic Plan. In particular, he views strong reciprocal community relations—based on shared resources and collaborative partnerships—as the key to realizing the School District’s full potential.

Mike is a start-up management consultant and owner of an interactive digital media company. He plans to draw on his 23 years of experience in management, governance, strategic planning, and finance to be an effective trustee.

Mike is also an active community supporter. He is a past chair of the North Vancouver Parent Advisory Council, and currently  a North Vancouver District Library Board Trustee. He is a former Advisory Committee member for the North Vancouver Outdoor School & Environmental Learning Centre (NVOS), and is now acting as the School Board liaison to NVOS.
