Here is Course Outline for Immersion students taking Français Langue 11. Please read it carefully.



Course Description

Français Langue 11 ( French Immersion 11 )

Teacher : Mme Yaraghi

 

  The goal of this course is to continue to reinforce the development of the students’ language skills in order to allow them to express themselves with confidence.

  This course will allow the students to :

  Read and analyse literary passages from well-known authors such as Guy de Maupassant, etc, in order to be able to write literary passages on their own

  • Understand the concept of persuasive writing and essays from reading and analyzing texts; they will give their own opinions and will learn how to write their own persuasive essays in French

  • read different novels in groups and take the role of describing the thoughts of the characters. They will analyse the novels and describe the themes found. They will also choose individual novels and describe their thoughts written journals

  • read with a critical eye Molière’s famous piece, “ Le Malade Imaginaire” and participate in fun and enriching activities

  • listen to, read, and analyse poems written by famous poets such as Victor Hugo, etc, in order to understand their messages to widen their imaginations

  • enrich their written and oral skills with grammatical practice and oral exercices, debates and in-class discussions

The final exam at the end of the year will count for 20% of the final year mark.

   

Expectations :

  • The students must arrive on time, with all necessary materials

  • The students must actively participate in discussions in class in French with their teacher as well as with their peers. They must avoid “les anglicismes”

  • The students are responsible for their own absences ( homework must be done and handed in to the teacher ). Exams must be written immediately after their return to school, and must be immediately arranged with their teacher ( Mme Yaraghi )

  • The students will receive a zero if the absence is not excused

  • The students are responsible for their own learning. If they need supplementary time or tutoring ( e.g. for grammar ), they must organize it on their own time to talk with the teacher or with a tutor
