Sitecore Style Suggestions

Here are some suggestions for making your SiteCore web site more effective and attractive.

Suggestion #1  Avoid changing fonts
Focus on the layout of the page and the content of the page.  Let Sitecore format the text.  Avoid changing fonts.  Consistency will enhance the website.

Suggestion #2  Fewer PDFs, more inline content.
For basic textual material users are encouraged to have it in the page rather than as a PDF.  In most circumstances it is not appropriate to expect the user to navigate the site and download content from each page.    A rule of thumb is to use pdf's only if...

  • the document has many pages (eg 8 pages)
  • the formatting of the document does not transfer well to SiteCore
  • the document is instructional or a form

Suggestion #3  Use colour with care

Reserve the use of colour for important things that need to stand out.
The colours should match the colours of the website.
The text colour should contrast with any background colour used.

An important heading (matches red stylesheet)

This is not readable and should be avoided (does not match stylesheet)
