Seymour Heights Elementary is one of 10 schools across the country in the running for a $20,000 grant to build an outdoor classroom in the Majesta Trees of Knowledge competition http://www.majestatreesofknowledge.ca To win they need votes, lots of votes. The contest continues for the next two weeks and they estimate they will need at least 2000 votes for the school a day. Any Canadian with a registered email address can vote daily: parents, students, grandparents .... So please, go to the website above and place your vote for Seymour Heights to win!

Seymour Heights School is hosting a Community Garage Sale on Saturday April 13 from 9:00 to 12:00 pm. Tables will be set up in the gym and the hallways of the school. The School will also be having a bake sale at the same time and refreshments and popcorn for purchase.

NV School District is hosting a Social Responsibility Community Evening on Monday April 22 from 7:00-9:00 pm at Windsor Secondary - “Promoting Positive Youth Development in our Schools and Community”. What supports are available to promote social emotional wellness? How do we foster social responsibility in our schools and community? Please join us with guest speaker Dr. Kimberly Schonert-Reichl to provide information about initiatives and programs that together provide a strong foundation for student learning. Vancouver Coastal Health and the NV Parent Advisory Council will be hosting a “Foods That Fit” workshop on Wednesday, May 8 at the Education Services Centre, 2121 Lonsdale Ave from 5:30-9:00 pm. The interactive workshop will be facilitated by Helen Yeung, Community Dietician with Vancouver Coastal Health on the North Shore. The speakers will discuss guidelines for food and beverages sales in BC schools; food safety and waste reduction; and fundraising with healthy foods in school lunch programs. Seating is limited.
