Jack Loucks Library

Dedicated by the North Vancouver Board of Eduction

John (Jack) Edwin Loucks
1918-2006

An exceptional man by example, Jack Loucks served the city of North Vancouver as a councilor and Mayor for a total of 25 years. After leaving the Mayor's office, Loucks was an active member of the community, serving as president or director for various organizations.

Jack Loucks was a school teacher and principal. He served as an elementary school principal for 21 years of his 33-year career, before retiring from North Vancouver School District in June 1978.

Jack and his wife Olive, a children's librarian, filled their home with books. Their love of reading was shared with their children. Two daughters, Dee Loucks and Mary Frerraby, currently work in libraries.

At the dedication ceremony, the Louck's family presented Westview Elementary with a wonderful box of books and a very beautiful carving which will be hung at the entrance to the library along with a photograph of Jack and a dedication plaque. Come by soon to see them.
