Scholarships Awarded

The graduating class of 2011 was indeed an outstanding group and this is reflected in the variety and number of scholarships they were awarded in June. A total of ninety students were offered in excess of $550,000 at the time of this writing. Added to this list will be the government scholarships based on examination results to be released in August. In addition, several groups will make their winners known once final grades are determined.

While we are proud of the students and their accomplishments, we would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of many local merchants and community organizations for their financial support.

In particular we would like to thank the North Vancouver High School Education Foundation, the Canadian Federation of University Women, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Lions Gate Rotary Club, the Kiwanis Club of North Vancouver, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 114, the Lynn Valley Lions, and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 389. The Capilano College Board Entrance Scholarship continues to be a valuable support. The perennial support of the Park Royal Shopping Centre, the Lynn Valley Booster Juice, the District of North Vancouver and the North Vancouver Teachers’ Association is greatly appreciated. Three of our feeder schools – namely Fromme, Sherwood Park and Dorothy Lynas – for their support by awarding monies to their former students, and we are grateful to the Parent Advisory Committees of these schools for the work they. And last but definitely not least, we appreciate the monies raised by private individuals to honour the names of their friends and loved ones: Nicole Donald, Andrea Feddersen, Nashlyn Lloyd, Jim Martin, I.R. Miller, Seanna and Nicole Strongman, E.H. Valentine, Catherine Wiens and Mr. Koon Chang Yeung.
