Partners for the Environment

Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) North Vancouver Store has provided support to the Outdoor School Youth Leadership Program through the MEC Community Contributions program.

Outdoor School has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Parks Canada (Palisades) Stewardship Education Centre. This partnership brings together respective strengths and expertise in the development of learning experiences that will create a sense of stewardship for nature, wilderness and national parks. Committed to collaboration, Parks Canada and the Outdoor School will assist Canadian youth to see the world around them with new eyes; to connect with nature and the cultural stories of place and to move beyond participation towards active ambassadorship.

Outdoor School has partnered with Carbonicity, a group-buying collective that benefits local environmental organizations. The Outdoor School is featured on www.carbonicity.com, and is a recipient of a portion of the collective discount from Carbonicity’s "green deals" with local, socially responsible merchants.

Check it out! The website offers great daily discount deals from popular lower mainland businesses, while also supporting Outdoor School's environmental programs and activities.

Outdoor School was recently approved to receive donations from 1% for the Planet member companies.  Established in 2002 by the founder of Patagonia, Yvon Chouinard, and Craig Mathews, owner of Blue Ribbon Flies, 1% for the Planet is a growing global movement of 1393 companies that donate 1% of their sales to a network of 2,172 environmental organizations worldwide.
