2009 Chamber Business Excellence Awards

Outdoor School is Sustainability finalist and film takes "bronze"

At the 2009 North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards, the Outdoor School was one of three finalists in the category of Sustainability.

Finalists in each category were assigned a team of bright and talented film students from Capilano University’s School of Motion Picture Art. Teams were tasked with creating a short clip capturing the essence of each of the 30 nominated businesses. Filmmakers David Gattey and Jeff McAlpine were awarded third place, and $500, for the Outdoor School film presentation. “Jeff and I had a great experience learning about and documenting Outdoor School", says David. The Capilano University film students were invited to attend the awards gala and see the results of their hard work and creativity.

The North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards were created to publicly recognize successful organizations in North Vancouver that continually demonstrate excellence in business and a passion for their community.  The awards promote the advancement of responsible business leadership and harmony within the community.  Selected organizations are recognized as positive role models and visionaries, and also as risk takers and catalysts for change.  They demonstrate their leadership skills not only within their own organizations but also in the community at large.
