APPROVED SCHOOL CALENDARS

At the Public Board Meeting on March 12, 2013, the Board of Education approved the 2013/14 School Calendar. In accordance with the School Calendar Regulation, the 2013/14 School Calendar and 2013/14 Distributed Learning Calendar were submitted to the Minister of Education. The Ministry of Education has confirmed that the calendars are in compliance with the School Act and the School Calendar Regulation.
The 2013/14 School Calendar includes a two-week (2) Winter Break and a two-week (2) Spring Break.
The calendar establishes start and end dates for the 2013/14 school year, holiday and vacation dates, and four (4) of the six (6) non-instructional dates: the District Curriculum Implementation Day (1), and the District (NVTA-determined) Professional Days (3). The remaining two (2) Professional Days (school-based) will be determined by each individual school.
The 2013/14 School Calendar provides for staff collaboration time at each North Vancouver School District school on seven (7) occasions throughout the year. These dates are indicated on the calendar. Staff collaboration time will be accommodated by a late start at secondary schools, and an early dismissal of students at elementary schools.

The North Vancouver School District has received notice from the North Vancouver Teachers' Association that the District-wide Professional Development Day that was scheduled on Friday, February 15, 2013, is rescheduled to Friday, February 8, 2013.
Please note the following new dates in the 2012/13 Local School Calendar:
Friday, February 8, 2013 is now scheduled as a District-wide Professional Development Day. Schools will not be in session.
Monday, February 11, 2013 is the new BC Family Day Statutory Holiday. Schools will not be in session.
Tuesday, February 12th through Friday, February 15, 2013 are regular instructional days. All schools will be in session.
A revised 2012/13 Local School Calendar is posted below. This calendar is current to June 15, 2012.

Premier Christy Clark and the Honourable Margaret MacDiarmid, Minister of Labour, Citizens' Services and Open Government, announced today that BC's Family Day statutory holiday will be scheduled on the second Monday in the month of February each year. Prior to today's announcement, the Province of BC had scheduled Family Day 2013 on Monday, February 18, 2013. As a result of today's change, the North Vancouver School District has modified its 2012/13 Local School Calendar to reflect the new date of the Family Day statutory holiday on Monday, February 11, 2013.
