Lisa Bayne has three young children and will have a child in the school system until 2027. She wanted to serve on the School Board because she views Trustees as the guardians of “good quality education and a good, kind and safe civil society.” Lisa feels it is essential that the School Board listen to people to find out their needs and priorities, and to work with the community for the betterment of education. Some of her priorities as a Trustee include: communication, partnership development, and inspiring health through physical activity and good nutrition. She wants to expand the current work schools are doing to encourage students to be healthy by developing partnerships between parents and schools. Lisa has a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Psychology from Simon Fraser University, and works as a Program Manager for Vancouver Area Community Corrections. She has experience working with communities to determine their needs and concerns, in particular by working in consultation with communities about placement of residential facilities. She has also helped develop unconventional partnerships in both the public and private sectors. Lisa has diverse experience working with students and schools, which includes: bringing parole officers and parolees into grade 12 classrooms to enhance curriculum and discuss corrections; serving on the curriculum implementation panel for the Native Education Centre's Criminal Justice Program; and volunteering with Roots of Empathy, a program that works in elementary school classrooms to develop children’s emotional literacy as a way to reduce bullying and aggression.
