Logging an Incident

Logging an Incident

To log an incident, click on Log an Incident then click on New.

Category:
Click on Category to access the list of categories the incident would fall under. For instance, for a forgotten password, double-click on XXACNT.

Room:  Enter the room number.

Entered for:  If the incident is being entered on behalf of another staff member, click on Entered for. Either scroll through the pages of the user's department by clicking on the arrows, or enter the client's employee number. When the client's information shows, double click on it and the employee number will populate the Entered for field and the client's name will populate in the additional fields to the right.

This person will also be notified via email when the incident is logged, as well as when the incident is resolved.

Description:
Providing a detailed description of the incident will help IT Services identify the best way to resolve it in a more timely fashion. For example: "My Desktop PC freezes when I am trying to open a message in First Class" is better than saying "My computer isn't working".

Submit:  Once all the information has been entered, click on the Submit button, which will save the incident in the system. An email confirming that the incident has been logged will be sent to the user's First Class account.

To clear the screen or to start the incident over, click Clear.

If an incident has been resolved internally, it is possible to close it yourself. To do so, simply click on Close.
