Short Story Unit Schedule
Feb. 13-17 - Chapter One-Escape and Interpretation:1. Take @ half a page of notes(big ideas)/terms and their definitions. Usually eight to twelve "big ideas."
2. Read "Youth" by Joseph Conrad, pp. 8-33(yes, it is a short story) and complete all questions on p. 33-34(#1-9)
3. Read "The Inn of the Two Witches:A Find" by Conrad, pp. 34-56, and complete qu. 1-11 on p. 56-57.
Criteria for Short Answer Questions
-Paragraph format
-25-50 wds
-neatly inked or typed
-academic voice
-proof from the text using page #'s and or quotes where applicable.
-answers all questions-within-the-question.
Note: Each story will be thoroughly discussed on the last day of the week so make sure you have thoughtful and legible responses to "bring to the table."
Feb. 20/21- The Inn of the Two Witches and questions are due. Follow the outline above and be prepared to discuss this story in your table groups.
Feb. 22/23- Chapter Notes @ half a page for Chapter 2- Plot
- "The Destructors" and questions due. pp. 66-78
Feb. 27/28 - "The Japanese Quince" and questions due. 79-82
Feb. 29-March 1 - Chapter 3-Character- notes @ half page
-"A Little Cloud" and questions due.
March 2/5 - Chapter 4-Theme-notes @ half page.
"Just Lather, That's All" and questions due
March 8/9-Read " A Special Occasion" and do questions 1-4
March 12-23 - Spring Break - No Assignments. Yes!!!
March 26/27- Chapter 5 - Point of View-notes @ half page.
March 28/March 29 - Paul's Case-p. 194-211 + all questions due.
March 30/April 2 - Chapter 6 - Symbol and Irony-notes @ half page
