Attachments
Sometimes an email with a file attached will be received or a file such as a document or image needs to be attached to an email for someone else to view. As North Vancouver School District moves more and more toward electronic communication within the organization, knowing how to handle attachments will become increasingly important.
Viewing Attachments
An email with an attachment is identified by a blue paper clip. Double-click anywhere on the email to open it.
Once the email is open the attachment can be viewed by right-clicking on the attachment where it appears in the message. Go to Open Selected on the drop-down menu to open the file.
Saving Attachments
The NovaCom mailbox size is limited to 150 Megabytes of storage. It is important to save attachments to the computer’s hard drive or to a network drive if they are to be kept.
To do so, follow the same process as shown above in Viewing Attachments but this time go to Save Attachment on the drop-down menu.
The Save As window will open. Locate the folder the document is to be saved in and click Save.
The file Transfer status window will appear to show the attachment has downloaded successfully. Click Close when file transfer is showing 100% complete.
Once a message has been written, an attachment can be added to it by going to File > Attach OR by clicking the Attach icon (grey paperclip) on the Shortcut bar.
The Upload File window that appears allows files to be found by navigating the computer’s directory. Once the file has been found, select it and click OK.
As shown earlier in Saving Attachments, the File Transfer status window will appear to show that the file has been successfully attached. Click Close once the transfer is complete.
The attachment will now be visible in the message. The email is now ready to send.
