This is Rodin's "Thinker." If he could talk, he would tell you that he is thinking about all the interesting works of literature he read in his English 11 course with Mr. Donald.
Course Overview:
English 11 is broken down into three curriculum organizers by the BC Ministry of Education.
1. Students are expected to "Comprehend and Respond," "Communicate Ideas and Infomation," and learn about "Self and Society." a) The suborganizers of "Comprehending and Responding" are: "strategies and skills; comprehension; engagement and personal response; and critical analysis." b)The suborganizers of "Communicate Ideas and Information" are: "knowledge of language; composing and creating; improving communications; and presenting and valuing." c)The suborganizers of "Self and Society" are: "personal awareness; working together; and building community."
My English 11 course is broken down into seven units. While each unit focuses on a specific genre, or work, the three main organizers of English 11 are covered in each unit. Students are expected to read widely, to learn and master critical thinking skills, and to effectively communicate their ideas both orally and in writing.
In addition to studying set works, students in my English 11 course are also expected to read an additional novel per month and complete a variety of assignments on their novels over the course of the year.
Unit One: Lord of the Flies & Persuasive Writing Unit Two: Writing and Analysing Poetry Unit Three: Greek & Roman Mythology Unit Four: Creative Writing: Writing a Novel Unit Five: Macbeth & Elizabethan Drama Unit Six: Fahrenheit 451 Unit Seven: Short Stories
Welcome to English 11!
