GUEST SPEAKERS: INSPIRING AN INTERCONNECTED WORLD

Why bring in a guest speaker?

We are all interconnected. Our actions, big and small, have either a positive or negative impact on others. Our choices and actions have a powerful impact on our shared planet.

Terry Fox encouraged us all to “lead by example”.

Bringing in inspiring athletes of varying ability levels, connects kids with their personal resiliency. With guidance, kids CAN overcome the challenges that life brings! Hosting ‘the real world' in our schools also reinforces the concept of our interconnected global community.

Esteem Team (www.esteemteam.ca)

The EsteemTeam is a national Goal-Setting Program with three objectives:

• To inspire young people to pursue what they want in life
• To educate them in the processes that lead to success, and
• To activate them for life!” (from
www.esteemteam.ca)

Esteem Team’ speakers are specifically trained to work with students. They also offer a comprehensive, reproducible teaching guide to help teachers to prepare for and follow-up after the session. This guide supports the instruction of the Health & Career curriculum.

Esteem Team will give our school district a group rate for speakers who visit during the 2009/2010 Olympic school year. The regular rate per guest speaker is approximately $350.
