WMBA Initiatives
Throughout the school year, WMBA is involved in a number of activities with the goal of benefiting all students enrolled in the Windsor music programs. WMBA exist through the hard work and dedication of a handful of volunteers. We are always looking for people to help in any way. If you would like to play apart in your child’s musical growth by helping WMBA here are a few initiatives that require some additional volunteer assistance.
Magazine Sales (Oct)
This job would require time at the school during lunch and or after school to collect magazine orders. You would be responsible for submitting the order and for handing out incentive prizes at the end of the campaign, during a school day
Poinsettia Sales (Nov/Dec)
This is a Christmas fundraiser that sells potted poinsettia, wreaths and door sprays. It would require being available during some school lunch hours so student can place their orders. You would also need to be available at the Christmas concert to coordinate the pick up of orders.
Christmas Bake Sale (Dec.)
This is a job for a group of volunteers. First you must phone all music parents and ask for contributions of baked goods for the sale. On the night of the sale you and the team would be responsible for the arriving early to price the baked goods and organize them on the tables. You would also be responsible for cleaning up the sale area. This is a fun job.
Spring Flowers (March/April) This job is great for someone who likes gardening. You would take orders, collect money and be available for flower and plant drop-off and pick-up one weekend day.
Cabaret (May) There are many ways that you can get involved in the Cabaret. Set-up is a Friday night, the Cabaret is Saturday and clean-up is Sunday. It is a weekend affair! There are opportunities in: promotions/marketing, decorations, set construction, food, purchasing, bar sales and set-up, rentals, door prizes,50/50 draw, set up on Friday evening and clean up on Sunday afternoon.
Truck Drivers for Feeder School Tour (March) /Junior Tour (May) Must be available during the school day and feel comfortable driving a “rent-a-truck” The feeder school tour is a one and one-half day commitment to drive the truck with equipment to all the Windsor feeder schools. This trip is to promote the Music Program at Windsor. The Junior Tour trip is in B.C. and will require two over-night commitments in a hotel which will be paid for by WMBA. Your job as a driver would be to supervise the unloading and loading of instruments.
Ticket Sales (Centennial Theatre Concerts) This job is to sell tickets at Centennial Theatre. Must be at the theatre early to set up.
Phoning Parents This job would be a when needed job. Sometimes information needs to get to all music parents and the best way is by telephone. You would be given a list of names to call and what to say. This would not be a time consuming job.
