Internet Safety!  Check out the great tips for internet safety on this site (Social Networking & Internet Awareness):

We are very proud to announce the launch of the web site, www.bettertogetherbc.ca.

            • The process of encouraging family meals starts by encouraging families to 're-create' in the kitchen. When food is fun and preparation is pleasurable, meals tend to be shared and eaten together.
            • 'Re-creating' involves having fun with food (recreation) but also involves preparing meals together (re-creating).
            • Children may be better custodians of the family meal than parents. By helping them connect food with fun, we can create powerful internal advocates for the family meal.
            • Guilt paralyzes parents. Focusing on words like eating together or family meals can create guilt and cause parents to shut down, deny and even ignore communications.

Better Together BC is a dynamic web site with tools for people in the community to submit  stories and recipes and to make comments. It is also designed with a content management system that allows us, the nutrition educators at the BC Dairy Foundation, to readily add posts and make changes. Help to make this a useful tool for everyone by making contributions to the site either through the community tab or by emailing us.

This website contains tools to support children, parents and health professionals to eat together more often.

Children can:

            • download recipes
            • build their own cookbook

Families can:

            • download tools to help them get started
            • read stories from others
            • get tips, watch videos, learn about resources

Health professionals and educators can:

            • download copies of the report, A Hands on Approach to Family, Food and Fun
            • create their own handout with tips and information pertinent to their audience
            • access research about eating together and family meals
