Stargate Atlantis |
| There have been many tales about advanced civilizations wiped out by some form of natural disaster or another. A few of these tales are based on fact and others are based on fiction. Your first task is to follow the links below and gather information about the various lost civilizations. You will then put this information into a table using Appleworks. Once you and your partner have created and formatted a table, you will begin to brainstorm ideas for your own imaginary civilization. This will involve gathering pictures from the Internet, integrating your pictures with text and sound in iMovie to tell the story of your ancient civilization. |
PART I (RESEARCH) Look at the links below to collect data about these lost cities: their location, how they were lost, when they were lost, the type of people who lived there, and any other information you think is important.
Use Appleworks to organize this information into a table and format the table so that the information is clear and easy to read. |

PART II (Your own Lost Civilization) 1) Think about the way the lost civilizations were described and come up with an idea for your own lost civilization. Where was it, how was it lost, what were its citizens like, what sort of artifacts would an archaeologist find there, etc. Add the information for this new lost civilization to your table.
2) You will now gather pictures from the Internet to put into a movie about your lost civilization. You may draw your own images and take a picture of them using a digital camera, or you may find the pictures using google images. Download the images to your desktop and put them in a folder to later import into iMovie. (Keep in mind that you want large images, not small ones.)
3) Create your iMovie using your images. Use text to give more information about these images, and you may also want to do a voice over to explain or talk about your movie. Also, do not to forget to use transitions, effects and maybe even some music to liven up your productioin. |
PRESENTATIONS Finally, we will watch your movies as a class. At this time, you will also hand in your tables to be marked.
Good luck and have fun! |
