Making the Sun Shine Brighter

Congratulations Eastview for an outstanding show of spirit and support for our Student Leadership Council campaign for Children's Hospital June 2-5, 2009. Our slogan was to "Make the Sun Shine Bright for Children's Hospital" and we did this by building a mosaic of coins in the shape of the sun. Students, parents and staff brought in coins and personally contributed to the building of the mosaic and it was amazing and exciting to watch it grow throughout the week and the sense of care and community as people came together in quiet concentration toadd their coins and help others.

A 1 kilometer run was planned for the Friday and our warm-up dance - taught and led by student council members - was a FUN way to get things going. Thank-you to Connor M. for helping to create a video log of the sun as it grew - a wonderful reminder for fellow students of the value of community work. Thank-you to our Grade 7 students and staff for helping to sort and roll "every pennie".

Our Student Leadership Council's campaign raised almost $1100.00 through the week's activities and all students benefitted from this experience and added to our a sense of community. Well done!
