“Hatchet” is about a boy named Brian. His parents get divorced and he is going to visit his father up North. His mom lives in the city and she gives Brian a hatchet for his stay at his dad’s house. When his bush plane is in the middle of nowhere the pilot has a heart attack. The plane crashes in the lake and all Brian has is a hatchet. Will he survive? I think this is a great book and you should read it.

This book takes place in Afghanistan where the Taliban rule the land. It’s a story about a girl named Parvana who had to cut her hair to make herself look like a boy to make money for her family. In the winter, Parvana and her father go to a camp. But her father grows old and weak and sadly dies. Parvana has to make her way home alone; but not for long. On her way she hears something in the wind. "Is it a kitten?" she asked herself. Or could it be the Taliban? Read this book and find out. I recommend this book fo gr 5-7  students.

Book Reviewed: Camp X

Author: Eric Walters
Location: F WAL
Reviewer: Jake

You never get bored of this book because it is always exciting and I think that it is a pretty action-packed book. It might not be good for younger readers because there are quite a bit of guns in it and that is probably not for them. The main characters names are Jack and George and they accidentally break into a camp and get into trouble. They then sign a secrecy oath with the camp and then they help them with their security. Read the book to find out more.

Book Reviewed: The Hobbit

Author: J.R. Tolkien
Location: F TOL
Reviewer: Thomas

I enjoyed “The Hobbit”. It is an awesome book. It is action-packed, and would appeal to intermediate students. It’s a Fantasy book about a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins who is sent on a quest with a wizard and a band of dwarves to slay the dragon called Smaug. The dragon had invaded the dwarves’ mine in the Misty Mountains. Will Bilbo make it to the mountains and slay Smaug? Read “The Hobbit” and find out.
