Here are some insightful pieces and Poems written by Grade 2 students in Mrs. Gillespie's class.  Enjoy!

Number Rolls
When I do number rolls I taste my clear, warm, stinky sweat.
I see seven thousand, three hundred and 34 numbers.
It is a very beautiful sight.
I smell the smell of paper and lead.
I hear lots of scribbling and changing broken pencils and erasers erasing.
I hear so many sounds.
I think I love my number roll so much I will keep it until  I am in university
and maybe even the elderly stage.

Falling Rocks
It's raining rocks,
It's raining rocks,
I see stones all over the place.
I hear thump and bump
and ring and ding.
Did they come from outer space?

It's raining rocks,
It's raining rocks,
What a noisy sound;
I hear thump, bang, crash, cling, clang, clong.
There are rocks all over the place

Beloved Rain
It's raining ants,
It's raining ants,
I can catch a pet!
I can hear people scream from a pinch of an ant.
I'll get some ants
with my net!

Raining Shoes

It's raining shoes and laces,
It's raining shoes and laces,
They are lying all around.
There are runners, sneakers, flip-flops and sandals.
I am going to keep the ones that I found.

Strange Rain

It's raining asteroids,
It's raining asteroids,
Rocks and dirt begin to fly.
I see red and yellow and white and orange;
There's fire in the sky!

It's Raining
It's raining ice skates,
It's raining ice skates,

We're sliding all over the place;
We can put them on and skate away.
Don't forget to tie up your lace!

It's Raining
It's raining yummy cake,
It's raining yummy cake,
With a bright red cherry on top.
I hear splat and yum;
see chocolate and gum.
I think I'll have to mop!

Raining Pokemon
It's raining Pokemon,
It's raining Pokemon,
Do you think that they will fight?
I hear Snorunt and Piplup and I see flames;
They all have lots of might!

Do You Love Me?
Sophie, do you love me?
Yes, I do, Dear One.
I love you more than the moon loves the sun;
more than our fish love the tank;
more than the bear loves his honey.
I'll love you until the fish meow;
until the humans bark.

What If I dropped your favourite toy?
Then I would be mad, but still, I would love you.
What if I got you an earwig farm?
Then I would be scared, but still, I would love you
I will love you forever and for always, for you are my Dear One.

Do You Love Me?
Daddy, do you love me?

Yes, I do, Dear One.
I love you more than a bear loves his berries;
more than a dog loves his bone;
more than the cat loves his tuna.
I'll love you until the wolves are nice;
until the sun falls down.

What If I put a fish in your dresser?
Then I would be angry, but still, I would love you.
What if I got water on your clothes?
Then I would be sorry, but still, I would love you.
I will love you forever and for always, for you are my Dear One.
