Leaving School During Lunch
Students are not allowed to go to another child’s home for lunch unless this has been arranged beforehand with the parents of both students and notes from both parents are provided to the
teacher(s). Children are not allowed to go to any other place, such as a store, unless they have a note from their parent requesting this privilege. This is to ensure your child’s safety while he/she is away from home.

Telephone

Students with legitimate reasons for using the school telephones
will receive permission from their classroom teacher to use the classroom telephone. Students cannot be permitted to use the phones to make social arrangements. We have only three telephone lines into the building and they are heavily in demand for business purposes. Please allow your child to make play arrangements for the following day, at home, the evening before.

Valuables
Please do not allow your child to bring radios, walkmans, ghetto blasters, rollerblades, skateboards, precious jewelery or mementos to school. Please do not allow your child to bring money to school except for such things as book club, hot dogs etc. in which case please put in a sealed envelope. Our school staff are not able to safeguard items, nor are we able to replace anything that is lost, or broken.

It is the responsibility of band students to take their instrument home after lessons to enable them to practice at home. Instruments left in classrooms may be subject to theft or damage. We have no locked storage area for instruments.

Chewing Gum
Due to many problems caused by improper disposal, gum may not be chewed at school.

Bicycles

Once on school property, bicycles should be walked to racks and
locked during school hours.

Hats

Although appropriate for outside, hats are not to be worn inside school.

Indoor Traffic
To ensure effective patterns of movement for the students, staff, parents, business and maintenance personnel, we have designed a simple procedure for entry and exit.Children enter by their “wing” doors. They exit by the wing doors and/or classroom doors, according to teacher decision. We reserve the front entrance as a business entrance. The exception is for kindergarten students who will enter and exit from their classroom door. Students entering or exiting the building for emergency reasons use the closest door, including the main entrance. This strategy has worked very smoothly in the past and we anticipate it will continue to do so in the future.
