Diplomats of the World
… are socially responsible citizens concerned for other people in the world.
The Diplomats’ role is one rich in spirit and compassion. We hear stories from afar and understand common links and the need to EXPAND our picture of the world together. We see how we are co-evolving and recognize the importance of diplomacy and EQUALITY in our relations.

We create a unique culture by taking fragments of information and then creating a wholesome experience through:
Message Books
we connect with an “ambassador” to bring our images of peace and personal worldviews to SHARE with other children where life is very challenging
Study of Words and Values
we discuss the language of EMPATHY to become valuable and effective leaders in the future, as well as creating WordViews
Projects:
2006-07 our WordArt was received in a school in Lesotho, Africa through our diplomat, Dr Mike Burns. Also, our work was received in a small community in Uganda through a program with the University of Victoria.
2007-08 our WordArt was exchanged in Lesotho, Africa. Also, our work was received in a community in Gujarat, India. Thank you to our ambassadors who delivered our work.
2008-09 our WordArt was donated to the Burnaby Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. Large paintings are hanging in the hallways of the centre as a source of healing and inspiration. The varied staff there care for people mainly afflicted by challenges from living in the Downtown Eastside. The centre is a new and progressive opportunity for the clients to find the care they need to start again in a supportive community.

Roots of Empathy
Zoey at 3 months old (Nov 2008), is a teacher to the Cleveland students. From her, they will learn about empathy (to understand other people’s feelings). The students observe her communicate through her movements and sounds. The focus is on nine different themes when she comes to visit throughout the year, in turn, our students learn emotional literacy.
Our responsibility is to empower ourselves, as well as others: “An active responsibility for the rest of humankind, and for the world of which we are a part, is a necessary ingredient of a good life.” (Finding Flow by M. Csikszentmihalyi)
