Waterfall on a hiking trail, North Island Photo by Camisha |
NEW ZEALAND Jan 2008
"The most amazing place in the world! Its landscape is so extraordinary because it's so lush. It looks like meteorites hit the island, then got covered in green grass and white dots. The dots are sheep, where they outnumber the people! Unlike Australia, New Zealand has no venomous creatures, including jellyfish and the ocean is so warm! The Kiwis are very environmental. They do not use plastic bags to shop. The island is kept very clean with many hiking trails enjoyed by everyone. They drive on the left side of the road."

INDIA Jan 2008
"India is busy and crowded! Traffic is not car traffic - it's tuk-tuks, motorcycles, bicycles, cows, goats, elephants, monkeys and camels. Everything is bright and bustling. In the south, people were really friendly. They go out of their way to help you. In the north, they are more aggressive because of many more tourists. You also see more poverty there. I saw beautiful beaches with bathtub warm water! The food served at home is so spicy you aren't able to talk because your mouth would be so swollen. In the restaurants food is not spicy at all. Family is really important to the people of India, especially if you come from far away."

BRITISH COLUMIBIA July 2008
"The glacier is so breathtakingly beautiful! When I was standing at the base of it, I felt so unimportant, so small next to this ancient sheet of ice - just a tiny point in the whole world's history. My dad cooked up some pasta and we ate at the "world's best restaurant," right there, with this huge glacier for our view!"

CUBA March 2008
"Here is Roberto (middle) with his two friends in their classroom. The Cuban people are very poor, yet they are so happy. They are also friendly and generous. Cuba is a communist country so education and health care is free for everyone. Taxes are high. There are many animals, but none are poisonous. The countryside is so beautiful, especially when you stop and look, like when you're riding your bike. My family and I did a bike tour of 500 km around part of the island."

ITALY March 2008
"This photo was taken while I was on a Gondola ride. Venice is different from anywhere else. We came in by water taxi and you get to the hotel by small water lanes. You can tell when you've arrived at the hotel because there is a 'candy cane' post that show the entrance. My favourite meal was 'penne arrabiata' which I ate almost everywhere. All of Italy has architectural places. Pompeii was historical, the Trevi Fountain in Rome was cool and Pisa was so unexpected."
