Each class has adopted one of the Winter Olympic sports to study and to reflect in their artwork to share their work with nearby classes. Each class has their sport posted on their classroom door.   In addition to focusing on a sport, from the beginning of January, each morning, the Grade 7 student announcers have been declaring the number of days remaining to the Olympics. There is also an Olympic “question of the day” or Olympic fact read out each morning on the announcements. For students, there will be an opportunity to play “Olympic Hockey” at lunchtime during the Olympics. As the Olympics proceed, a bulletin board in the upper and lower hallways of each main area of the school will reflect Olympic facts or artwork, medal count, etc. As the torch is passing Capilano Road at 7:15am on February 10th, too early for an organized school event, Capilano will be celebrating the opening of the games on February 12th at 1:15pm. We have arranged an Olympic torch bearer to re-run a route past the school and she will visit classrooms to inform students of her exhilarating experience. Parents are invited to join us as we cheer the torch as it passes our school.
