Experiential Outdoor Environmental Leadership 10

This course has been developed to encourage students to develop their leadership and interpersonal skills as well as their practical understanding of environmental and ecological knowledge. Students in this course assume the direct leadership and instructional responsibilities of specific experiential outdoor activities under the direction of the NVOS Principal, vice principal, teachers and recreation leader for younger elementary aged students. 

This course gives students the opportunity to learn about the functioning of coastal eco-systems and the key economic and human use questions our society deals with daily. These environmental investigations are related to wildlife habitat, fisheries biology (specifically salmonid species), forest ecology and management as well as sustainable farming practices and animal husbandry. These understandings are developed in conjunction with acting as teacher assistants in environmental field study programs at the North Vancouver Outdoor School (NVOS). 

Through study, practice and direct application of their knowledge students develop experience based outdoor environmental leadership skills and understanding.
