Welcome to new Program Intern

A Herzliche Wilkommen
to Patrick!

We extend a warm welcome to Patrick Schlosser, who joins the Outdoor School team in the role of Program Intern. Patrick recently arrived from Germany and will be living and working at the Outdoor School for a period of three months. During that time, Patrick will be exploring all aspects of environmental education, while assisting students, teachers and staff with educational programs and activities and day-to-day operations.

Patrick discovered the Outdoor School through a connection with Naturschule Darmstadt – an outdoor school located in his home town, near Frankfurt.

While in Canada, Patrick hopes to hone his English language skills and gain valuable training, education and life experiences that will enhance his university studies and connections with people and the environment.

The Outdoor School encourages international internships because of its belief that environmental education and environmental issues are global in scope, and that it is increasingly important for young people to develop a sense of global citizenship as nations of the world become more interdependent.

In the upcoming months, the Outdoor School will also be hosting visiting student teachers from Queens University, University of Calgary and the University of Victoria.

These outreach activities provide a strong foundation for the Outdoor School as it transitions to an international Centre of Excellence.  The new North Shore Credit Union Environmental Learning Centre, now in final design stages, is the first phase of a multi-phased, sustainable campus revitalization planned for the Outdoor School over the next few years.
